La presente investigación aborda un tema que resulta un tanto novedoso en las composiciones guitarrísticas a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX: las técnicas extendidas. Debido a la rápida evolución de la música a partir de este siglo, los compositores han podido explorar diferentes dimensiones del instrumento llegando a emplear técnicas y recursos exóticos (considerando lo anteriormente existente dentro de la técnica del instrumento) o tomando prestadas técnicas de instrumentos afines. Específicamente, esta investigación se centra en el trabajo de cuatro compositores, Leo Brouwer, Carlo Domeniconi, Francis Kleynjans y Brad Richter. Cabe resaltar que no todas las obras compuestas por estos autores incluyen técnicas extendidas, pero sí es algo presente en muchas de sus obras, entre las cuales han sido seleccionadas algunas de las más relevantes para este propósito. Este trabajo estudia ciertas técnicas destacables y reflexiona sobre la interpretación de las mismas.
The following research approaches a subject that can be considered as a new feature in guitar pieces from the second half of the 20th century and beyond: the extended techniques in guitar playing. Due to the quick development of music as a whole from this point on, composers could explore different properties of the instrument, reaching some exotic techniques (considering the previous techniques consolidated in the language of the instrument) or taking some techniques from similar instruments. Specifically, this research put the focus on the works of four composers: Leo Brouwer, Carlo Domeniconi, Francis Kleynjans and Brad Richter. It’s important to notice that not every piece ever written by these musicians include extended techniques, but it’s an important part existent in many of their work, which some of them have been selected due to their relevance for this research.
