Abstract

This essay will be dealing with the first movement of the Concert for Trombone, and Orchestra, by the French composer Henri Tomasi. This is a concert in which, as we will see later, the trombonist will be required to have a great technical-musical domain. Facing this kind of concerts requires previous well-planned and elaborated study in order to compensate all the technical difficulties that can be presented. For this reason, and as a starting point, an analysis of the first movement will be done, taking into account some aspects as the shape, form, articulation, timbre, rythm and armony. I consider of great importance the musical analysis to be able to acquire a comprehension of the musical fact. Lately, and as main point, a theoretical-practical guide will be developed having the sum of 36 exercises, with the purpose of working on the those technical difficulties that are more relevant and that we were able to observe throughout this movement. The research will finish with the assimilation of all the information obtained through the interpretation of the first movement.
